Alison Maitland

Ali is has been working with Addictions North East for over two years now and has been clean of all substances for over four years. Ali is also the treasurer of my home Narcotics Anonymous group.

Ali’s experience of heroin addiction and alcohol addiction covered a period of just short of twenty years, meaning she has a great understanding of how chaotic and unmanageable peoples’ lives can become, not just for the person themselves, but for their families, children and friends.

Overcoming her addiction, she can appreciate the purpose, structure and potential that all can find for themselves given determination and connection with others in recovery. She has a range of practical experience in helping people with their individual problems.

Angela

Angela started her career as a volunteer after going through her own personal battle with alcoholism. Due to this she decided she wanted to help people who are going through the same issues as she did.

Angela started volunteering in drug and alcohol services in 2006, gaining employment as a front-line practitioner to a lead practitioner.

She always tries to improve her skills and returned to education at 36 years old, and now has numerous qualifications ranging from Health and Social Care to Management.

Angela recently joined the team at Addictions Northeast as the Senior Practitioner, where she manages the day to day running of the therapeutic support we have in place.

“I love the work that Addictions Northeast do, and the challenges we support our residents with. I am passionate about the work we deliver and always looking at ways to improve this where needed. One of the main benefits of working with Addictions Northeast is watching the residents gain their own personal recovery and watching their journey unfold.”
